Part I: The Foundations of Trauma-Informed Behavior Change
In Part I, you’ll build a strong foundation in the science of safety, regulation, and behavior change. Through a trauma-informed lens, we explore how nervous system states shape readiness for change and how to foster trust, autonomy, and resilience in client sessions. Topics include nervous system regulation, trauma-informed nutrition, self-determination theory, non-violent communication, and neuroplasticity. This part includes six live classes and asynchronous content to support flexible learning.
Part II: Advanced Approaches to Behavior Change
Part II focuses on building practical coaching skills through live, interactive sessions. You’ll deepen your understanding of motivational interviewing, client-centered communication, goal setting, and behavior change theories. This part includes coaching labs, practical skill assessments (PSAs), and sessions on legal and ethical considerations, coach self-care, and professional development. You’ll practice real coaching scenarios, receive feedback, and gain confidence in your ability to support clients through meaningful change.
Two Powerful Phases. One Career-Defining Certification.
Introducing
Nested Health Coach Certification® for Providers
Designed specifically for nutrition and therapy providers, in just twelve weeks, transform your practice.
We believe in the power of root-cause behavior change so much that we include Part I of Nested with enrollment in Signature Supervision.
How we’re different
Trauma-Informed Focus
We place special emphasis on addressing the root causes of many health challenges—stress and trauma.
Clients Provided
You’ll need clients to practice coaching within the program to complete your Practical Skills Assessments (PSAs). We provide them!
Become board certified - the national gold standard in health coaching certification
Clinician's Incubator - Nested Health Coach Certification is an Approved Health and Wellness Coach Training & Education Program by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for the HWC Certifying Examination to become National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC).
Exclusive to Providers
You’ll learn with other providers and providers-in-training looking to integrate health coaching into their current scope, so the curriculum is customized to you.
Small Cohorts
People learn best individually and in small groups. That’s why we offer small cohort sizes, to allow for personalized feedback and support.
Continuing Education
Continuing education credits (CEs) are available for CNSs. At the completion of this program, you can download a certificate with up to 75 CEs.
Test Prep Included
We include an online test prep module with a practice exam, and a 300+ page coach tools and study guide.
Get Your CNS + NBC-HWC
Combine clinical excellence with coaching confidence.
Earning both your Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS) and your National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) credentials sets you apart as a highly skilled practitioner who can deliver personalized nutrition interventions and support long-term behavior change. While the CNS equips you with advanced clinical knowledge, the NBC-HWC gives you the tools to help clients implement that knowledge in real life—safely, ethically, and sustainably. Together, these credentials allow you to practice at the top of your scope while providing the deep relational support that clients need to make meaningful progress.
Benefits of Getting Your NBC-HWC While You Earn Your CNS
Enrolling in Nested Health Coach Certification during your CNS journey offers a seamless, efficient pathway with several key advantages:
Stronger client retention = easier CNS hours. Coaching helps you build stronger client relationships, which often results in longer-term care and more qualifying hours.
Coaching sessions during Nested coursework count toward CNS hours. You’re not duplicating effort—you’re building both skillsets at once.
Once you’ve completed 80% of Nested, you can start counting your sessions toward the 50 required for the NBHWC exam.
Dual-credit sessions save you time. If you conduct a 1-hour nutrition follow-up and coach for at least 20 minutes of it, that session counts for both CNS practice hours and NBHWC coaching session requirements.
Nested faculty are CNS supervisors. Any time spent reviewing coaching videos or receiving feedback from them counts toward your CNS “time with supervisor” requirement.
Benefits of Getting Your NBC-HWC After You Earn Your CNS
Already certified as a CNS? Nested still supports your growth:
Earn 75 Continuing Education credits—the full amount required to renew your CNS credential every 5 years.
Expand your reach. Health coaching is legal in all 50 states, which means adding the NBC-HWC credential can allow you to legally support clients across state lines—especially helpful if you're looking to grow a virtual practice or work in integrative care settings.
Increase your job opportunities. More and more employers are seeking clinicians who are dual-trained in nutrition and coaching. Adding NBC-HWC to your CNS credential can position you for roles in private practice, group clinics, employee wellness programs, and telehealth platforms.
Deepen your impact. Nested’s trauma-informed coach training equips you with tools to support real, sustainable behavior change—helping clients implement the protocols you design and stay engaged for the long haul.
