The First ACNPE-Accredited Supervised Practice Experience

CNS candidates care about being in an ACNPE-accredited program because it simplifies the entire certification process. When your supervised practice experience (SPE) is completed through an accredited program like ours, there's no need to individually submit your 1,000 hours to BCNS after graduation.

Instead, we handle the approval in-house and send BCNS a certificate verifying your completion—saving you time, paperwork, and uncertainty.

Plus, graduating from an ACNPE-accredited program adds an extra layer of credibility to your credentials, demonstrating that your training met the highest standards in the field.

  • Signature Supervision has been rigorously evaluated and approved by the Accreditation Council for Nutrition Professional Education (ACNPE) to ensure excellence in clinical nutrition training.

  • As an accredited program, our supervised hours are pre-approved to meet the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists (BCNS) requirements, meaning you don’t have to get your hours approved by BCNS when you graduate.

  • Completing a supervised practice experience from an accredited program adds credibility to your professional profile and signals to the public, healthcare colleagues, and potential employers that you meet rigorous professional standards in clinical nutrition practice.

This program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Nutrition Professional Education (ACNPE), a programmatic accrediting agency for master’s degree clinical programs and Supervised Practice Experience programs in nutrition.

At Clinician’s Incubator, we’ve taken the must-haves for CNS® supervision and made them meaningful, personal, and actually helpful. Our core programming is designed to give you the structure you need, with the freedom to tailor your experience to fit your path (we have daytime, evening, and Saturday hours). You choose from any of our eight expert CNS® supervisors — whenever it works best for you. This means you’re never locked into one perspective and can learn from multiple clinical styles.

Small Group Clinical Rounds

Join up to 5 peers and one of our supervisors to review real cases, ask questions, and sharpen your clinical thinking. It’s like a mini mastermind for CNS candidates.

Practical Skills Assessments

Record yourself working with a client and review it with a supervisor. Sounds intimidating? It’s actually empowering. You get to see what you’re doing well and grow where it counts — with kind, expert guidance.

Functional Assessment Rounds (FAR)

Every month, we host 7+ collaborative case review sessions where you’ll learn how to build protocols from real cases. You’ll strengthen your clinical decision-making across rotating topics, including:

Figuring out how to track your Supervised Practice Experience hours can be tricky. We offer comprehensive training upon enrollment, but then also host a regular tracker support session to get your questions answered.

CNSs are a little rare in the wild! That’s why we schedule regular opportunities for current candidates and alumni to chat online in a friendly environment.

Alumni Continuing Education

Just because you’ve finished your hours doesn’t mean the support stops. As a Signature Supervision alum, you’ll get access to ongoing continuing education opportunities designed to keep your skills fresh and your knowledge current.

With all client placements, you’ll receive intake paperwork, functional and conventional labs, and detailed recommendations for building client protocols and tools. You choose the level of support you need:

  • Confidence Pack: We’ll provide the clients needed to accrue up to 250 direct hours.

  • DIY: You have a bustling private practice, or work in a job that provides all the clients you need to get 1,000 hours.

  • The time it takes to accrue your 1,000 hours varies greatly. Talk with one of our CNS supervisors in an info session to learn more.

  • Yes! Depending on which package you choose, we can provide clients to work with. In our DIY package, you are responsible for providing the clients. In the Confidence Package, we will provide clients that will allow you to accrue an estimate of 250 hours. In the Done For You package, we will provide clients that will allow you to accrue an estimated 450 hours.

  • A number of things, actually!

    We really care (REALLY). This is one of the most frequent pieces of feedback we get from program participants, and it is very true. We really want you to find your own path, and figure out what makes you unique!

    We believe that the best way for you to learn is to engage with multiple supervisors with different specialties. That’s why we’ve invested so heavily in having a large supervision team (nine currently) that have different types of experience and clinical specialty.

    Even with the broad range of supervisor specialties, we share one approach - a trauma-informed, personalized functional medicine approach to nutrition care that supports clients in achieving their optimum health.

  • Signature Supervision has rolling admission - you can start at any time!

  • Different people have different needs. At a minimum, you’re expected to attend two clinical rounds/month + 1 individual supervision session.

    We have many opportunities for bonus programming, from test prep to functional assessment rounds to a community social. The amount that you engage in these activities depends on your particular needs and schedule.

  • Yes! We have many people participate in Signature Supervision that have full-time jobs in other fields. If fulfilling your 1,000 hours takes longer than twelve months, you can add on supervision month-to-month.

  • Yes! Our entire program, including the supervisors, have been approved by ACNPE and BCNS. We’re ready to go when you are!

  • Upon acceptance, we’ll send you information about how you can pay. You can choose either in-house financing at 0% APR, or you can also choose to go through Shopify/Affirm. With Shopify/Affirm, you can select to divide the Signature Supervision fee into 6-, 12-, or 24-month payments.

  • Ashley Comparin

    MS CNS LDN NBC-HWC

    Ashley graduated with a MS in Nutrition from American University and is currently working as a clinical nutritionist at Nutrition Hive as well as her work helping supervisees at Clinician’s Incubator understand the nuts and bolts of the Supervised Practice Experience to become a CNS. Ashley specializes in gut health, intuitive eating, and sports nutrition and enjoys photography, cooking, and hiking in her free time.

  • Amber Pawula-Marcin

    MS CNS LDN

    Amber Pawula-Marcin is a clinical nutritionist specializing in metabolic and GI conditions. Her clients at Mindframe Nutrition rely heavily on her skilled research chops, and her ability to translate that research into actionable steps using skills mastered in her prior career as a health coach and chef. In her free time, you’ll find Amber in the kitchen creating delicious dishes for family and friends.

    Alyson is a clinical nutritionist who specializes in working with healing relationship to food and eating disorders, mental health, related gastrointestinal conditions, as well as fertility support for those in recovery from ED.     Liz is an integrative and functional nutritionist who helps women resolve unwanted symptoms such as sleep difficulties, digestive troubles, migraines/headaches, and hormone imbalances. Liz uses Intuitive Eating and practical approach to help her overscheduled, overworked clients return to feeling great. As a second career nutritionist, Liz leverages 20 years of communication, marketing and behavior change expertise. Liz began her private practice in 2012 as a health coach. In 2018 and 2019, Liz opened and ran an Integrative Health Center in Wilmington, Delaware.     Meg Bowman is a licensed dietitian nutritionist and Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) specializing in mental health and gastrointestinal wellness through a functional nutrition approach.     Stephanie Lanham, DCN, is a doctor of clinical nutrition, a certified nutrition specialist, and a national board-certified health and wellness coach with over a decade of experience with holistic healing modalities, with certificates varying in meditation, reiki, and tapping. She graduated from the DCN program at MUIH in May 2022 after also completing her Master's of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health with the herbal medicine pathway at MUIH in 2019. She established her private practice, Rediscover Health, LLC, in 2017, utilizing her nutrition and coaching skills to guide her clients toward rediscovering their health using food, herbs, and holistic lifestyle practices. Her specialities include eating behavior, mindful eating, women's health, cardiometabolic, and herbal medicine. She enjoys making tea from her apothecary and gardening in her spare time.
