Special Situations for Nutrition Education / Coaching ONLY states:

  • Alabama: Refer to yourself as a nutrition educator or health coach NOT a nutritionist
    Arkansas: DCN (degree complete) can practice MNT, everyone else needs to function as nutrition educator or health coach.

  • Idaho: Services need to be packaged as a “wellness program.” Please have supervisor approve wellness program before working with ct.

  • Indiana Language Forthcoming

  • Mississippi: Do not use “nutritionist”

  • Missouri: Disclosure required: A credentialed person not representing or holding himself or herself out as a dietitian, who performs any of the acts or services listed in subsection 1 of this section, shall provide, prior to performing such act or service for another, the following:

    • The person's name and title;

    • The person's business address and telephone number;

    • A statement that the person is not a dietitian licensed by the state of Missouri;

    • A statement that the information provided or advice given may be considered alternative care by licensed practitioners in the state of Missouri; and

    • The person's qualifications for providing such information or advice, including educational background, training, and experience.

  • Montana: Licensure coming. Currently you need to provide nutrition education or coaching.

  • Nebraska: Licensure coming. Currently you need to provide nutrition education or coaching.

  • New Mexico: Licensure coming. Currently you need to provide nutrition education or coaching.

  • Rhode Island: In your forms, you need to call nutrition education “health maintenance counseling”. You can call health coaching health coaching.

  • South Carolina: In your forms, you need to call nutrition education “providing nutrition counseling in health”. You can call health coaching health coaching.
